Salesforce Launches New Low-Code Developer Tools to Bring Salesforce Automation and Apps into Slack
Recently, at the TrailblazerDX ’22 summit, the CRM giant Salesforce and the business messaging app Slack launched their brand-new toolkit — the Salesforce Platform for Slack that enables developers to create customized Slack applications that extract important functionality from Salesforce (like automation, business insights and actions) into Slack. This brand-new toolkit empowers developers to create customized Salesforce apps for Slack that connect people across various teams in an organization.
“The Salesforce Platform for Slack is an empowering toolkit for developers to contribute to their digital headquarters faster utilizing the coding languages they’re familiar with,” said Rob Seaman, the SVP of Product, Slack.
A New Feature Will Bring Salesforce Automation to Any Slack Conversation
Flow in Slack, a novel new feature, empowers developers to build Slack automations backed by Salesforce data and actions with minimal code. With Flow in Slack, developers can now:
- Create multi-step guided automations in Salesforce. So, how does that benefit your business? All the guided automations can be reused within Slack any number of times with just a few clicks.
- Transform manual tasks into completely automated processes using low-code tools. For instance, you can create Slack channels for enabling seamless collaboration with partners and colleagues, sending account status updates to teams and so on.
In a nutshell, Flow in Slack lets organizations collaborate on fairly complex processes across diverse teams efficiently and facilitate Slack automations into larger business process orchestrations.
“Salesforce Platform for Slack will enable all our developers to create apps that make Slack interactions more actionable and meaningful than ever before,” said Stuart Thomson, Solutions Architect, Kimble.[LS1]
Developers Can Now Create Slack Apps on Salesforce Without Using Middleware
With the Apex Software Development Kit (SDK) for Slack, developers can create Apex code and auto-generate Block Kit (a UI framework for Slack apps). What makes this code development process even easier is that the generated Apex code is something that developers are already familiar with. To be more precise, Salesforce developers can build for Slack effortlessly by just bringing context to any Slack UI. So, how can this help your business?
Developers can easily infuse Slack with Salesforce metadata and data, create reusable views, route events between Slack and Salesforce and retrieve Salesforce records without any middleware easily, with Apex SDK. Are you wondering if these actions might breach Salesforce’s data security policies? Not at all! The Apex SDK will ensure full compliance with set Salesforce policies while allowing teams to focus on using the latest and secure conversational applications.
